November, 2023

Washington Conservation Action held their seventh annual Carbon Friendly Forestry Conference. It was a virtual conference and the topic for Day One was "Small Forest Landowners, Carbon Markets and Carbon Offsets". WCA invited O'Neill Pine Company to give a presentation. Chairperson of the Board Debra Pine and Company President Richard Pine did just that, and it was recorded on YouTube.

April, 2023

O'Neill Pine Company has been Forest Stewardship Council® certified as a timber grower since 2000. Last month, OPC hosted a tour of the FSC International Board of Directors. Yes, the very people who run FSC certification for the entire planet. FSC United States has a story (and picture) in this month's Newsletter.

February, 2023

After we harvest, O'Neill Pine Company replants. Sometimes we even plant just to grow more trees. We set down another 8,000 seedlings this month on land that simply needed more trees. The Centralia Chronicle noticed.

Washington Farm Forestry Association.

Kylie Pine doesn't just co-own O'Neill Pine Company. She is also the Curator at the
Willamette Heritage Center. Excellence is what she is all about, and Kylie is this year's winner of the Oregon Heritage Excellence Award from the Oregon Heritage Commission.

Doris Fae Walser O'Neill, mother and grandmother to today's O'Neill Pine Company ownership, passed away on the 19th at the age of 90. The extended O'Neill family mourns their loss, and the rest of us at OPC are saddened by Doris' demise, but we feel enriched at having known her. The Centralia
Chronicle published her obituary.

O'Neill Pine Company was honored to be named Tree Farm of the Year by the
Lewis County Chapter of the Washington Farm Forestry Association.

September, 2013

One of the owners of the O'Neill Pine Company, Kylie Pine, was (among her many endeavors) the creator and curator of the new
Oregon State Hospital Museum in Salem. Yes, that's the place of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest fame. She is also a graduate of Willamette University, and, just like her Dad in July of 2007, was profiled in their alumni magazine, Scene.

September, 2011

O'Neill Pine Company board member Terri Frohnmayer won the
United States Golf Association Senior Women's Amateur championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Down 2 holes early on, Terri stayed consistent and eventually defeated defending champion Mina Hardin of Fort Worth, Texas, 2 and 1. Congratulations Terri!

February, 2011

O'Neill Pine Company supplied FSC-certified wood beams to the Friends of the Bush Gardens (in Salem, Oregon) for use in their newly renovated greenhouse. The beams were unloaded by an inmate work crew and
Freres Lumber, another family-owned timber firm, donated the transportation cost.

May, 2009

Maggie F. Keenan, Ed.D., wrote a book about companies and their charitable giving, and she asked O'Neill Pine Company President Richard Pine to contribute. OPC now has it's own chapter in
Small Businesses Give Big: Why Charitable Giving is a Great Business Strategy.

September, 2008

O’Neill Pine Company was named Agri-Business of the Year by the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce! The Chamber annually recognizes one business that produces or uses products from land. OPC was recognized for its environmental policies and community contributions.

Former O'Neill Pine Company board member
Bryan Johnston passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep. Bryan served OPC in 1999 and 2000, but he was only being kind to us. He had a distinguished professional career, highlighted by being Willamette University’s interim President, associate dean at Willamette's College of Law, Dean of its Atkinson Graduate School of Management, serving in the Oregon House, and serving as interim director of the Oregon Department of Human Services.

We will miss him.

July, 2007

Each September, Willamette University holds a Reunion Week. That's also when the school celebrates some of their outstanding alumni for what they've accomplished since graduation. O'Neill Pine Company's President, Richard Pine, is among this year's honorees. Congratulations, Mr. President!

May, 2007

Solar panels have been added to the roof of Liberty House, where O'Neill Pine Company is headquartered. The Salem
Statesman Journal wrote a story about it and of some of the benefits of using the sun to help power a building.

February, 2007

O'Neill Pine Company's Board Chair and Corporate Secretary, Debra Pine, was nominated for an
Athena Award for her business and community leadership. She was profiled once again by the Salem Statesman Journal in a special Women in Business section of the newspaper.

July, 2006

O'Neill Pine Company was the focus of an article about sustainable forestry in the July/August 2006 copy of
The Green Guide entitled "Eco-Forestry Up Close" and written by Francesca Lyman.

June, 2006

Kylie Pine, O'Neill Pine Company's Vice President-History, was voted Volunteer of the Year for 2005 at Mission Mill Museum. She was featured in a story on page three of Mission Mill's newsletter,
Milling Around, Summer of 2006 edition.

February, 2006

O'Neill Pine Company was named the Showcase Company of the Month by the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce. A story about the award was on page five in the March, 2006 edition of
Business News, the chamber's monthly newsletter.

February, 2006

Debra Pine, O'Neill Pine Company's Board Chair and Corporate Secretary, got a nice profile in the Salem
Statesman Journal's special Women in Business section. On the next page was an advertisement for OPC showing our three major stockholders.

April, 2005

O'Neill Pine Company was the exclusive supplier of all the certified timbers used in the Salem Rotary's Centennial Pavilion.
